This is the first mention of either of Kimberly's parents. Back then, I had been decided that Kimberly's parents were divorced, she lived in an apartment with her dad. I knew what he did but it wasn't until years later that I found out the proper term for it. I think it's private equity capital but I don't quite remember and I'm not familiar enough with finance to be entirely certain. I'm led to believe it's a fairly private world; not exactly secretive, but not easy to get information on if you're not in on it.
Isabel switched to headset phones shortly afterwards. It works a lot better for long-ear characters.
As you saw in You Say it First, Mr. Taylor invested in small companies (and got other people to invest in them). When they succeeded, it was very good. His track record wasn't great, and he'd jump at opportunities that he should have let go, trying to chase success. That's why he 'borrowed' his daughter's college fund, for instance.
This is a horrible question for a history midterm. It can be answered either in two pages, two hundred, or two thousand. Steam power lead to industrialization, which lead to excess production in Europe, which lead to colonialism which lead to just about everything that hapened in the last quarter of that century. Kimberly, unfortunately, has a half page. Back when I was in high school, all these test questions had "in your own words".
They're three different methods of heat transferral. Conduction is most efficient and requires direct contact, like frying. Convection is slightly less efficient and transmits the heat through an immersive medium, like broiling or boiling. Radiation does not require a medium of transmission (like sunlight travelling through space). You Must Learn All Night Long pt 2
