I purposely avoided using the word squirrel. At this point, I wasn't sure if they were animal-shaped-humans, human-shaped-animals, or humans-shown-with-animal-traits. Deep down, sometimes I still think they're just people with funny-shaped ears.

Halfway through the senior year, when most of the college-bound students have a decent idea what they're doing after they graduate and have adjusted their efforts appropriately. Emily's certainty (and the certainty of most of the rest of her class) just served to exacerbate the situation.
This is the first time she's been called Kimmy. This is significant. I think she was called Kim once before, about fifty weeks ago - not on purpose, but because her full name wouldn't fit. I had been reading a lot of Peanuts at the time and was thinking a lot about names. The "house specialty" is a trick I use often, to avoid figuring out what a restaurant actually serves.
Angle G is 83 degrees. I hope this is the kind of stuff they actually put on geometry midterms. This is as close as we get to a title drop; it's also the name of a song by Fantastic Plastic Machine which I had recently discovered.
