Hodges would show up again in about two or three years. That name is from "Bass", by Robyn Hitchcock & the Egyptians - "Lieutenant Hodges often said to me, 'I see a shoal of them far out to sea'". I chose a vaudeville theatre as a setting because it would let me have new characters show up without needing much further explanation. See the quartet there in this one comic? That was the only time I had other performers show up in the first six months.
Would a vaudeville theatre have an organ? Possibly. But it'd probably be by the stage, instead of in the basement.
Peter looks more like a bird instead of a bird-man. That's good. This joke is the reason why Caleb is here instead of Brisbane. You'd figure that Brisbane would show up since he's in the duo with Peter and is, ostensibly, the star of the comic.
I like this one. It pretty much sums up Peter. I didn't do visual jokes like this very often because I didn't think much about how the characters would look in the finished comic, and because, as a writer, I had a lot less control over that kind of thing.
The title is from the Moody Blues album, In Search of the Lost Chord. I'm sure I had a bunch of ideas for cool things that could be written on the boxes but forgot to send them to the artist. Whatever I had in mind probably would've been too long, anyhow. I'm not sure where the boxes of spare costumes come from. I can only assume that stuff got left behind over the years.
Caleb seems unusually helpful, doesn't he. The Holy Grail and Ark of the Covenant were Cyber's ideas, as were Peter's shoes (because she didn't like drawing bird feet). I liked this week and it was the only week of pre-reboot Unlike Minerva that was included it in the Revised Continuity.
