Why? Because Peter hadn't shown up in a long, long time. Partly because he was difficult to write - you had to get the illogic just right. Partly because he didn't really fit into any of the stories I had going. He wasn't in a relationship with anyone, and while he was important to Brisbane getting onstage, Brisbane wasn't doing any of that. So he shows up here for a comic, not because he needs to, but because this was the best chance I had to put him in for a long time.
And Caleb makes, as usual, even less sense if you really stop to think about it. I mean, how would he know there aren't dragons out there? If you want to get really technical, yes. Either she dumped the knives and started selling novelty maps in the same day, or Brisbane and Sofia were at the library overnight.
I'm not entirely sure, but I imagine that I had been hoarding good lines for Peter for a few months at this point, and decided to throw them all in.
So, wait, why is she calling him Nick? He introduced himself two weeks ago. If it wasn't an in-joke that I've forgotten, it must've been to illustrate that she'll remember anything written down but nothing that isn't.
