So why was Caleb looking for Kimberly? That plot point kinda disappeared. The writing started and stopped a lot during this time.
And with that, Nina disappears from the main plot. I don't think Brisbane knew how he felt about Nina. I mean, it's clear that she liked him. He was the only person she'd talk to. The original script was: Brisbane You can come back in. Nina (puppy-dog eyes) Can I have a show now? --- Brisbane I can't. Nina You can't? ---Brisbane I don't have enough material, I can't Nina I'll be back with some books in a little Brisbane I can't do it, I've been trying to tell - Brisbane Nina?
I have nothing to say about these comics, so let me post my original notes for this arc: Brisbane thinks Kimberly is mad at him. Really mad. He doesn't know what to do. He gets some flowers. Sofia asks him about them and he gives an evasive answer. Nina shows up again. She left a note for him but he never got it because she left it in a very obscure place. She smiles at him, takes the flowers, and leaves for the moment. Later, Kimberly shows up and things seem to be allright between them. He wasn't wearing his glasses when he saw her in the shower, so she thinks that he couldn't really see her because of that. It turns out that his glasses are just for reading. He has a chance to tell her about Nina, but doesn't. He's not sure where he stands with Kimberly, though. They may be friends, or there may be something more. She sees him reading without his glasses and gets very mad. She leaves.
The conflict isn't based so much on Nina vs Kimberly. They rarely, if ever, confront each other. The question is who's world he wants to live in. Kimberly's is lonely, hard, painful...but real. Nina's is an odd, magical world that's put together as much from belief as it is from reality; this world is just something she visits when she needs something to read. Kimberly's world is a lot more durable, but Nina's keeps threatening to break. If Brisbane breaks it, he can't stay there, but I don't think he could go back. That may be why he chose vaudeville in the first place. He never really knew. But it's about reality - does he want it or not. [end of old notes]
So, the above isn't exactly what happened. It's the direction I meant to take things. They just wound up going somewhere else instead. I think Emily happened to the storyline. Love Nina Again pt 3
